Thanksgiving Weekend 2015 In collaboration with Hudson River Exchange
(this event was attended by over 10,000 - mark your calendar for next year)

On Thanksgiving weekend, Basilica Farm & Flea in Hudson celebrates all things local, honoring quality food, art, design, antiques and vintage as an alternative to the "Black Friday" culture. About 125 makers from the Hudson area - independent artists, designers and collectors - will be showcasing work.

The Basilica venue is gorgeous, just down from the train station near the river, and many come to taste local food and experience the creative energy of Hudson. Last year, attendance reached nearly 7,000, so this year's event is sure to draw a holiday crowd.

Items include hand carved and turned cutting boards, bowls and spoons; gorgeous handcrafted jewelry; ceramics; wild-foraged health, wellness and beauty products; textiles and paper goods; furniture, light fixtures, funky vintage apparel and elegant home decor. The selection of vendors includes disciplined craftspersons and community-minded artisans like Idunn Clothing, Aubry, Lucy Blaire, Russell Jones Jewelry, Steve's Clothing and Jay Teske Leather Company. Indoor and outdoor spaces will feature the design work of local maker and artist Elise McMahon of Like Minded Objects.

Bar hosts for the weekend will be the renowned chefs of Hudson's Fish and Game. Additionally, local cider makers and distilleries including Hillrock Estate Distillery, Harvest Spirits, Nine Pin Cider Works and Stone Bridge Cider will offer tastings. No. Six Depot's hand-roasted coffee will be there, with cookies, cakes and sweets provided by Hudson Sugar Daddy and Maple Leaf Sugaring. Oysters and lobster bisque from Brooklyn Oyster Party will be served, as will pies from Truck Pizza.

The agricultural bounty of the Hudson Valley harvest is a highlight at Basilica Farm & Flea. Purveying everything from produce, meat, dairy, grains and flowers will be the diligent farmers and food vendors, including Letterbox Farm Collective, Farmhand Flowers and Hudson Valley Seed Library, among others. Lauren Giambrone of Good Fight Herb Company will have her herbs and tinctures for sale, and Sparrowbush Farm will contribute value-added items including hot popcorn popped from corn grown on their farm; while Chaseholm Farm will bring cheeses and other local delicacies.

New to Basilica Farm & Flea this year is The Back Gallery, a concept space co-presented by Escape Brooklyn. Focusing on everything vintage - clothing, records, home goods and more - including makers who incorporate vintage items or aesthetics into their handmade collections and heritage crafts, this experimental space will include artisans reinterpreting heritage manufacturing with contemporary style.

"Basilica Farm & Flea is committed to supporting alternative economies. We take pride in highlighting the abundance of small, authentic businesses located within the Hudson Valley and providing an alternative to the Black Friday “Big Box” holiday shopping experience. Besides the history of the area, Hudson is increasingly being recognized as a destination for quality food, art, design, antiques and vintage.BASILICA HUDSON 110 S.
