THE SUMMER OF GREYLOCK GIN

"I simply love the two gins produced by Berkshire Mountain Distillers in Massachussetts: Greylock Gin and Ethereal Gin. Greylock, in particular, with strong juniper, coriander and licorice flavors, gave traditional London drys such Tanqueray and Beefeater a run for their money in a classic martini." / The washington post

Berkshire Farm & Table has collectively gathered a group of passionate hospitality professionals to pioneer a craft cocktail movement in the Berkshires. Close to two dozen establishments will participate in The Summer of Greylock Gin, a campaign developed to raise awareness of an award-winning local spirit, and bring together restaurants, bars and retail shops to promote craft cocktails as another way to experience the Berkshires.

In celebration of Berkshire Mountain Distillers’ Greylock Gin – rated “#1 craft gin in the country” by The New York Times – Berkshire Farm & Table has selected this spirit as the focus of the summer-long campaign which ends on September 21. The region’s first legal distillery since prohibition, Berkshire Mountain Distillers is a local maker garnering recognition across the country for its select line of high-quality spirits. In addition to being a New York Times favorite, Greylock Gin has been featured in Cool Hunting and Playboy Magazine, and The Washington Post called it their “new favorite in American gins.”

A diverse range of classic and original cocktails will feature Greylock Gin in restaurants, bars and retail establishments with many craft cocktails highlighting fresh botanicals grown at the Berkshire Mountain Distillers gardens and greenhouses. In addition, the new glass-bottled Gin & Tonic cocktail will have a strong presence throughout the region.

Weekly Spirits Tastings featuring Greylock Gin will take place on the Mansion Terrace at Cranwell Spa & Golf Resort every Tuesday, and Jane Burns, Guido's family member and Mezze Bistro bartender, will be mixing refreshing cocktails starring Greylock Gin on Saturday, July 25 from 2 to 5 pm at Guido’s Fresh Marketplace in Great Barrington. Additional retail shops will offer tastings throughout the summer – a full listing of tastings can be found on www.summerofgreylock.com. Guest bartenders will visit Berkshire Mountain Distillers’ tasting room on Saturdays to shake up Greylock Gin craft cocktails. Several events will highlight Greylock Gin including the Tanglewood Wine & Food Classic, Shakespeare & Company’s Gala and more.

Berkshire Mountain Distillers will offer half-priced tours and complimentary tastings throughout the campaign and recipe cards featuring a selection of cocktails will be available for guests to take and make cocktails at home. A Summer of Greylock Gin cocktail festival will take place in October featuring bartenders and mixologists from across the region mixing up their favorite Greylock drinks.
